The factors that Cause the Problems that Encounter EFL Sudanese Secondary Students in Confusing the Phonemes //,/s/ and ,/b/,/p/ ( A case study of Al.Manar Private Secondary Schools, Kosti Municipality, White Nile State)

Abstract

This study investigates the factors that confuse EFL Sudanese secondary students in pronouncing the phonemes //, /s/ and /p/ , /b. The study adopts descriptive analytical approach by using , oral test, an interview and a questionnaire as tools for collecting data. The study concentrates on teachers and students of secondary schools in Kosti municipality White Nile State as the population and sample of the study. The findings of the study indicated that the majority of Sudanese EFL secondary students find difficulty in pronouncing the phonemes //, /s/ and /p/ , /b, according to what has been mentioned The main recommendation is that pronunciation lessons should accompany the lessons dealing with other skills e.g. grammar , vocabulary and sentence structure to draw the attention of the EFL students to the importance of pronunciation. in learning English
