Abstract:
This study investigates the factors that confuse EFL Sudanese secondary students in pronouncing the phonemes //, /s/ and /p/ , /b. The study adopts descriptive analytical approach by using , oral test, an interview and a questionnaire as tools for collecting data. The study concentrates on teachers and students of secondary schools in Kosti municipality White Nile State as the population and sample of the study. The findings of the study indicated that the majority of Sudanese EFL secondary students find difficulty in pronouncing the phonemes //, /s/ and /p/ , /b, according to what has been mentioned The main recommendation is that pronunciation lessons should accompany the lessons dealing with other skills e.g. grammar , vocabulary and sentence structure to draw the attention of the EFL students to the importance of pronunciation. in learning English

تبحث هذه الدراسة في العوامل التي تتسبب في المشكلات التي تواجه طلاب المدارس الثانوية في النطق الصحيح لبعض الأصوات في اللغة الإنجليزية وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على نظرية التحليل الوصفي باستخدام الاختبار الشفهي , والاستبيان والمقابلة كطرق لجمع البيانات . وقد ركزت الدراسة طلاب ومعلمي المدارس الثانوية بولاية النيل الأبيض محلية كوستي كعينات لجمع البيانات وقد أشارت النتائج إلى أن معظم طلاب المدارس الثانوية يواجهون صعوبة في النطق الصحيح لبعض الأصوات . وبناءاً على ما ذكر فقد خلصت الدراسة إلى انه ينبغي إن تكون هنالك تدريبات في النطق مصاحبة لباقي المهارات كمفردات اللغة , والقواعد وبناء الجمل ولفت انتباه الدارسين للغة الإنجليزية إلي أهمية دراسة النطق
