Factors Affecting the Performance of EFL Teachers in Secondary Schools

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the factors affecting the performance of EFL teachers in secondary schools in Ksoti Municipality at the White Nile State in the Sudan. A sample of (73) English language teachers was chosen to fill the questionnaire. The study focused on two factors that related to the teachers performance and teaching process which were training and experience. A descriptive analytical design was used to find out the impact of these two factors on the performance of EFL teachers. A teacher's questionnaire was used for data collection. The data collection was analyzed by using the statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS). The findings revealed a positive significant relation between the two factors which are training and experience and teachers' performance in EFL teaching. well trained teachers represent better performance in teaching and affect positively on students outcome. Also they proved that Highly experienced teachers offer perfect performance and achieve perfect students' outcome. The study concluded with some recommendations which offered to EFL teachers, supervisors of English language, policymakers and administrations of general education in the hope of helping EFL teachers for better teaching performance.
