The humanity is in need to satisfy the spiritual side in spite of its scientific and materialistic progress. This spiritual side requires following the light of the divine guidance. Allah has sent the messengers to guide the people and show them the right path they should follow. The Greek philosophy had sometimes agreed with the divine guidance of the heaven messages, and this is the evidence that some Greek philosophers have taken from the light of heaven prophecies which dominated at the time of David and Salamon peace be upon them. The Greek philosophy has failed in putting criteria for human ethics and behaviour, and many idolaters and ceremonies that was performed by the Greek have been introduced to it.
Greek philosophy has failed to establish a unified and reliable source of knowledge. Rather, it relied on reason at times and senses at other times, licking and senses with other bites at other times, deduction and experience as well, while we see that the Islamic view has adopted revelation as a primary source of knowledge as well, and each in its correct position, and the Islamic view The mind and the senses are a source of knowledge of the observed existence while revelation is a source of metaphysical existence
Muslims have been affected by Greek philosophy since the era of the Caliph al-Ma'mun, through the translation of the Greek heritage, and those who were influenced by that Al-Farabi, Ibn Sina, Ibn Rushd, and from the Mu'tazila speakers and others. |
